The harbour is also the starting point for a walk along the River Nairn to Cawdor. With two superb 18-hole courses in the town and a nine-hole one at Cawdor, Nairn is a magnet for golfers. The town was put firmly on the golfing map when, in 1999, it played host to the Walker Cup, bringing in visitors from worldwide as well as being seen in the competition's TV coverage.
