Description:
Hilton House Hotel is situated in the village of Hilton which is at J5 on the A50 just south of Derby and North West of Burton on the Derbyshire/Staffordshire borders. The hotel with ample free parking in a secluded carpark covered by CCTV has undergone a gradual transformation from family home 50 years ago to a hotel with 10 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, public and lounge bar and a large restaurant come function room making this a popular venue for weddings, anniversaries and society dinners. The first thing you notice on entering the carpark is the magnificent 250 year old cedar tree on the edge of the garden. The entrance leads to reception and the public bar to the left, which can seat 30 customers without tripping over each other and during winter be warmed by the real log fire. Straight through reception takes you to the Lounge and its bar with French Doors opening onto the garden and through to the restaurant. There are 6 rooms on the first floor, a mixture of twin, double or Kingsized all available for single occupancy, with a further 4 rooms in a seperate cottage annex within the grounds that are slightly more spacious but have bath en-suites, which were modernized during August 2009. One of these rooms has a twin and single bed making it a suitable family room with the possibility to set up a fold out bed for a 4th child if necessary.

Description:
Overseale House is a fine George II Grade 2* Country House. It was built around 1760 by Joseph Wilkes of Overseale{1733-1805}. Wilkes was an important 18th centuary industsrialist who tended to be overlooked, but he was an outstanding example of an entrepreneur, who exploited the economic expansion in the second half of the 18th C. He largely succeeded in achieving, an intigrated group of extractive and manufacturing industries supported by an improving network of services, which included his investment in the Ashby canal system by starting his own Bank, which later became the Midland and then the HSBC. His busines contacts include the Wyatt family, famous architects, which would explain the Paladian design for the house and the 'Wyatt built' mahogany doors used throughout the house with Mathew Boulton's manfactured door knobs. Later he sold the house to a son in law, a banker, who further beautified it using the building talents of Pickford .Another son in laws' descendent ,became the Archbishop of Canterbury who later crowned Queen Elizabeth 11. Regular visitors to the house include Mathew Boulton and James Watt plus all five romantic poets. and Josiah Wedgewood. Wilkes was also a 'nodding' aquaintance of King George 111, with whom he shared a passion for animal farming. In Wilkes case he wanted to sell livestock to feed the army. He invented a device which, by flushing, cleaned out the bedding and fertilised the soil. A small model was built in his garden,at present this has not been excavated! Wilkes also built ships, running a commercial fleet between Burton on Trent and the Baltic countries. The house suffered from lack of investment throughout the 20thC.This did preserve all of the special features, which allowed the present owners to restore ,mostly, back to the original design, keeping the 1760 windows and the special moldings intact etc. This house was 'lost' to the nation for a century but is now back and is able to welcome the public.

Description:
Morton Guesthouse in Derby is owned and managed by Julie and Pete, your hosts. We have on offer a choice between an excellent full English breakfast, which is dry cooked for maximum flavour and good health, and the lighter alternative of cereals and toast. Both versions can feature, if you wish, our home made brown bread and comb honey from our own hives! We will do our best to assist with dietary issues especially with a little advance notice. The rooms are immaculately presented, though still with that homely feel. There are two en suite bedrooms which are in a separate building offering just that degree more of quietude. We are pet friendly and will do our best to accommodate your 4 legged friends. We are sorry to say that we cannot accommodate cats due to a serious allergy. The guest house hotel is situated on the main road through the village of Castle Donington.
Accessibility: Our ground floor room 11 is disabled friendly with a wet room en suite facility, with low sink and appropiate grab rails.
